Pet Policies

Vaccinations

All pets must be up-to-date on required vaccinations prior to the Meet & Greet.

  • • Proof of vaccinations must be uploaded to your Pet Profile in the Client Portal
  • • Dogs must have a current Rabies vaccination
  • • Rabies tag number must be entered before services begin

We reserve the right to decline services if required documentation is not provided.

Pet Identification -- Tag or Microchip

We strongly recommend all pets have:

  • • A current ID tag attached to their collar or harness
  • OR
  • • An up-to-date registered microchip

For any service that involves leaving the home (walks, outdoor visits, transport), identification is required.

Microchip numbers may be added to your Pet Profile in the Client Portal.

Your pet's safety outside the home is a shared responsibility.

Off-Leash Dogs & Fenced Yards

All dogs must remain on a leash at all times unless inside afully fenced, secure yard.

During the Meet & Greet, we may visually inspect fencing for:

  • • Gaps
  • • Weak panels
  • • Openings
  • • Escape risks

If fencing is damaged or unsafe, your dog will remain leashed outdoors.

Dogs with electronic or invisible fences must remain leashed in open outdoor areas. Not all dogs respect electronic boundaries.

Even if your dog has strong recall with you, our team follows strict leash safety protocols at all times.

Fearful, Anxious, or Aggressive Pets

For everyone's safety, pets must be reasonably comfortable with new caregivers entering the home.

If you are unsure how your pet will react, this must be discussed before the Meet & Greet so we can prepare appropriately.

If a pet displays:

  • Fear
  • Severe anxiety
  • Aggression

We may require additional visits before approving regular services.

If aggression occurs after services begin, we reserve the right to:

  • • End the visit immediately
  • • Suspend future services

Clients are responsible for any medical costs if a Rainy Day Pets team member is injured by their pet.

Safety always comes first.

Dogs -- Leash Issues (Pulling, Reactivity, Aggressive Behavior)

Many dogs pull occasionally, and our team is trained to handle a wide range of sizes and temperaments.

However, if a dog is:

  • Excessively strong
  • Highly reactive
  • Lunging at people or dogs
  • Dragging or knocking down the walker

This becomes a safety concern.

If unsafe leash behavior is observed:

  • • You will be notified immediately
  • • Equipment recommendations may be provided (ex: front-clip harness)
  • • Continued service may require behavior modification or professional training

If the behavior is severe, we may require work with a professional trainer before resuming public walks.

Improper, Damaged, or Unsafe Walking Equipment

Your dog's equipment must be secure and properly fitted.

Unsafe equipment includes:

  • Worn or frayed leashes
  • Loose collars
  • Broken clips
  • Retractable leashes (in certain high-risk situations)

If equipment appears unsafe, we will notify you and may use our own standard leash, collar, or harness during the visit to ensure safety.

Our priority is keeping your dog:

  • Safe
  • Secure
  • Fully under control

During every visit.
